Q. Are RemitGuru Money Transfers safe?

Moreover, RemitGuru Money Transfer lets you put in money into your RemitGuru account either by a local wire transfer via your bank account or an Online Transfer that directly debits your local bank account. This money can then be used by you to either remit money to your loved ones in India or to pay for purchases made on Indian websites.

When you put in money in your RemitGuru account either by wire transfer or online transfer, you will be reassured to know that no debit appears in your bank account unless you have personally authorized it. Q. What is the RemitGuru Transaction Number or RGTN?

The RemitGuru Transaction Number or RGTN is the unique number displayed on your screen at the time of booking your remittance. It is reference number for your transaction. You can know the exact status of your transfer by simply clicking on your RGTN on our Online Status Tracker.

Whether you are sending an email or chatting with us online about your money transfer, you always need to quote your RGTN.

While sending a wire transfer to the recipient's bank via your local bank, you need to fill in your RGTN on the Remittance Confirmation Page. On completion of a transaction at RemitGuru Money Transfers, you must submit a printout of this page to your bank. This step is required by your local bank to process your money transfer.

Q. Is there a limit on the number of beneficiaries that you can remit money to?

No. You can send money to as many recipients as you wish. RemitGuru has an Address Book tool in which you can store your receivers' details.

Q. Can you send money to an NRE\NRO account through RemitGuru?

Yes. You can send money to any NRE\NRO account in India. These funds will be directly credited into this account.

Q. Do you or your beneficiary need to open any special bank account?

No. You can continue using your existing bank account for the money transfer.

To send money through RemitGuru, you need to first join us by registering on our website - Sign up. Registration is absolutely free.

After you create an account, RemitGuru stores your relevant details and your receivers' information in your user profile. You can easily send money later on without re-entering recipient information. All information stored in your account is secure and will not be shared or made available to anyone else or any third party.

Q. How long will it take to complete the enrollment? Do I have to wait to start using the service once I enroll?

It takes just about 5 minutes or less to complete the enrollment forms.

Q. What are the sending options available to me?

CIP/Internet Transfer
Internet Bank Transfer is the easiest way to send money electronically to most banks. You can simply transfer the funds by logging into your local Internet banking service.

Wire transfer
A Wire Transfer to RemitGuru usually enables you to transfer money from your existing overseas bank account to India in 48 hours. RemitGuru provides you with a unique tracking number to help you track the status of your transaction at any point of time.

Sofort Transfer

Q. What is the 'Sofort'option?

The 'Sofort' option is an online direct payment method and works on the basis of online banking. The big advantage - It is an immediate and direct transfer of funds.

Q. How 'Sofort' option works?

Customers who select 'sofort' as the preferred method of payment for their online money transfer are redirected to the secure payment form. All data transfer is carried over automatically so that you only need to select your bank, enter your online banking login details and enter the confirmation code in order to authorize the transfer. All information delivered to your bank is sent in an encrypted form.

Q. What advantages do I have from paying with the 'sofort' option?

You have a lot of advantages. In particular, you can expect seamless money transfer. Thanks to the two-stage authentication procedure (with confidential login details and confirmation code), using 'sofort' option is more secure than paying with a credit card or wallet. RemitGuru's account details are pre-added when you use the 'sofort' option and you simply need to authorize the payment by using your internet banking details in a secure and encrypted environment, assuring your money transfers are safe and completed without any hassle.

Q. How safe is 'sofort' option?

In all matters concern to money, security must have the highest priority. With 'sofort' option, you use the best online banking procedure. In particular to the confirmation code, it offers a high degree protection and immediately becomes invalid once utilized. The transfer of data occurs only via connections secured with up to AES 256 bits. sofort or RemitGuru does not store any sensitive information like a confidential login details and confirmation code, but carries out the transaction solely as a technical service provider.

Q. Which online banking accounts can I use 'sofort' option with?

You can use 'sofort' option with the online bank accounts of most banks. What's super practical: the payment page of 'sofort' option lets you search for your bank. However, use of deposit accounts, investment accounts or financial accounts is not possible.

Q. Can I cancel a payment that I've made with sofort option?

No. Cancellation of a transfer is not possible once the bank has taken receipt of the transfer order. However, if you have not yet paid, then you can cancel the transaction and make a new one.

Q. What are the charges for using sofort?

Following charges will be applied to customers for sofort transactions:
UK: £1 for transfer upto £1,000. No fee will be charged for transfers above £1,000. Your 1'st transaction via sofort is FREE, so go ahead and try it out today!
Germany & Europe: €2 for transfer upto €2,500. No fee will be charged for transfers above €2,500. Your 1'st transaction via sofort is FREE, so go ahead and try it out today!

Q. How do I get my money back if I cancel the transaction?

In accordance with the refund policy of RemitGuru, any claim regarding refund will be settled by deducting an amount of 20 (SGD, GBP or EUR respectively). Refund process would be completed in 15 to 20 business days.
Note: : No refund is possible once the amount is converted to INR.

PAD/ACH Transfer
This is available in Canada\USA. An ACH\PAD Transfer is an electronic fund transfer system that enables inter-bank clearing of transactions among participating financial institutions. In others words, ACH\PAD is a system that enables exchange of electronic transactions. When you send money from your bank account via a PAD\ACH Transfer, the recipient bank receives the money in 4 working days. Your beneficiary in India can expect the funds the very next day.

* No need to mail a check or visit your bank to initiate a Wire Transfer.
* In short, PAD\ACH Transfers save you valuable time and effort

However, if you are doing a PAD\ACH transfer, it can take up to 10 days to process your transfer as there is an additional verification process required. Therefore, please add your bank account so that we can verify it in advance. Then you can make transfers as and when you like.

Q. What are the receiving options available to my recipients?

Direct Deposit
All remittances can be directly deposited to the account of the beneficiary specified by you as soon as RemitGuru receives your remittance. You can also transfer money into your own NRE\NRO Account in India. To check list of banks click here .

Demand Draft (Available only for special cases)
You can get a local payment draft delivered to your recipient. We do not offer this option as default, as it is archaic and involves physical effort on the part of the receiver to en-cash the draft. However, if you have a special requirement for a demand draft to be given to the receiver, then please write to us at and we shall review your case.

Q. How to do a SMS Remittance? Where is it available?

SMS remittance is a facility available only from countries like USA and Canada. Send money to India by SMS at no extra cost! Simply link your mobile number to your registered RemitGuru account. You can send money from your already verified bank account to an existing recipient of yours.

Q. What is an indicative rate? At what rate will my money actually be paid out?

Our customers can depend on the 'indicative rates' as a reasonable estimate of the exchange rate at which their transfer will take place eventually. The actual conversion rate of RemitGuru is the rate applied on the morning the day your funds get converted in India. The conversion rate may differ from the current indicative rate. For example, if RemitGuru says that the indicative rate of GBP/INR is 1 GBP = INR 100, that indicative rate may reduce to 1 GBP = INR 99 or it may also increase to 1 GBP = INR 101 at the moment of the actual conversion.

Q.What is a Fixed exchange rate?

To safeguard yourself from any fluctuations in currency rates.-Try our fixed exchange rate option. The money will be paid out to you at this rate only irrespective of any fluctuations in actual rates. However you should complete the transfer within 3 working days itself or else transfer will be auto-cancelled.
Your transaction could be delayed because of the following reasons:-

  • You do not send the money into our account for the purpose of transfer.
  • You do not submit adequate KYC documents or answer our KYC call for the purpose of verification.
  • We are unable to trace your funds.

In such a case you would have to re-book a transfer with the same amount at the prevailing rate.

Q.What is the Fixed Fee option?

No matter how much ever good a rate we provide our customers always want something better. Therefore we now give the option to our customers to pay a small token fee and in return we promise to give them the best exchange rate that we possibly can - when we convert their transfer!

Q. How do I use the exchange rate calculator?

Q. When will a transaction be processed?

RemitGuru can only begin processing your transaction request once the money is received in our account in the sending country. We shall pay out the money within 1 working day itself. However, if you are a new user, then it can take 2-3 working days as we will first need to do KYC verification. Also take into account that all days must be bank working days in the sending country and in India.

Q. What is the KYC (Know your customer) process for RemitGuru?

When you do a transaction with RemitGuru for the first time a KYC verification call will be done and if required one would have to furnish a scanned valid photo id and address proof. When you add a new recipient to your RemitGuru account, a verification call will be made regarding the transfer.

Q. What does 'delivery date' mean?

This is the date the funds should be available to the beneficiary for the RemitGuru transaction. We cannot always guarantee the availability of funds on a particular date because of the differences in time zones, holiday lists and general processing schedules of different countries. The delivery date indicated by us for the transaction should be considered only as an estimate rather than the actual date for availability of funds. We advise you to check the RemitGuru Status Tracker to confirm that your funds have been received by the beneficiary. Please Note: RemitGuru can only begin processing your transaction request once the money is received in our account in the sending country.

Q. On what holidays will the remittances not be processed?

Remittances will not be processed on weekends and on the following bank holidays.

Q. How will I know when my recipient has received the money?

RemitGuru provides this information to you via email or SMS notifications and on the RemitGuru Status Tracker.

We will send a series of email/SMS notifications informing you of the status of your transaction. The first email/SMS is sent shortly after you submit a RemitGuru transaction. The second email/SMS is sent when your payment has been cleared and RemitGuru assigns responsibility of your transaction to our partner in the recipient's country.

Upon completion of the transaction, you will receive another email/SMS informing you that your recipient has received the funds.
Note: Place the email address "" in your "safe sender's list" of your email account to ensure that these messages are not mistakenly directed to your junk or spam mail box. If you're not sure on how to configure your email attributes, consult your Internet Service Provider (ISP), email service or system administrator.

Q. How do I repeat a remittance which I had done before?

To avoid the painstaking process of booking a transfer with the same details again we have introduced the repeat a remittance feature, wherein a list of remittances done in the past is displayed and in order to repeat the transfer you have to just click on the button next to it.

Q. What is ROR all about?

ROR is an innovative referral reward program we offer to our registered customers, which enables them to refer an unlimited number of NRI friends, relatives and acquaintances to us.

Q. How does ROR work?

All you need to do to enjoy the lucrative benefit of ROR as our registered customer is to refer RemitGuru to your NRI friends, relatives and acquaintances. Click on the Rewards on Referral link on the left hand side of the Account Summary page, after you login to your RemitGuru account. You start earning ROR after your referrals register themselves and transact with us for the first time.

You can avail ROR in two different ways. If you have contact details of your referral simply enter referral details. After your referral, we'll send an email to your friends/relatives soliciting them to register for our services.

If you do not have contact details of the referral, do share Rewards on Referral Code with friends/relatives. The referral must use “Rewards on Referral Code” at the time of registration only. Please ensure that they make their first transaction and select promo benefit as Rewards on Referral, which will enable you to get a total of Rs. 1,250/-. This amount will be credited to your ROR account, which you can redeem as per your convenience. Additionally, your referral also gets Rs. 250/- in his receiver's bank account on completion of his first transaction. A minimum amount of 501 of any currency/denomination needs to be transacted by the referral for any of these benefits to become applicable. So, you and your referrals will enjoy lucrative benefits from our ROR scheme.

Please note : Please make sure your referral should finish their first transfer within 7 days of initiating it and selects promo benefit as Rewards on Referral. Only then you will get the reward amount.

The ROR benefit will be sent to you in a separate transfer within 4-5 working days after completion of your transaction.

Q. Is there any other important detail that I need to remember while referring?

To start earning ROR, Please ensure that your referred friends/relatives/acquaintances:
A) Belong to a country we service.
B) Are not registered/existing users of RemitGuru.
C) Complete one transaction of sending money from RemitGuru.
D) Enter “Rewards on Referral Code” only at the time of registration with RemitGuru.

When you refer your friends for our services, we will immediately send an email to them for registration. Please ensure that your friend clicks on the registration link in the email and registers with us.

Q. Is there a limit on the number of friends I can refer?

No, There is no limit to the number of people you refer & the amount you can earn.

Q. How can I redeem ROR?

You can send the amount gained as ROR credit to your beneficiary in India along with your remittance amount.

e.g. Let's say you have accumulated a ROR credit and plan to send money to your relative in India. You can send the amount gained as ROR credit in addition to your remittance amount.

Note: You will be able to redeem your ROR balance only when the NRI friend you had referred has completed his first transaction of minimum 501 with us. The entire amount will become redeemable instantly. You can redeem the amount in multiples of 1000 rupees only with a one-time maximum of Rs. 10,000.

The ROR benefit will be sent to you in a separate transfer within 4-5 working days after completion of your transaction.

Q. What is the Remitguru "Engagement" scheme (RES) ?

The Remitguru engagement scheme (RES) is a unique loyalty reward program for rewarding users for their commitment to using us.

Q. How does the RemitGuru engagement scheme (RES) work?

All you need to do to enjoy the lucrative benefit of RES is to register for this scheme. After you login to your RemitGuru account, click on the engagement scheme link on the left hand side of the Account Summary page. Once open-click on the provided link to auto register.

You will become a member for a period of 4 months. Now start transferring money as usual.

Q. How do I redeem my points and get money?

To check your monthly amount tally click on the engagement scheme link on the left hand side of the Account Summary page. As soon as you have met the amount requirement in each month - you can claim your reward by selecting the option at the bottom of the page and then click on redeem now. Please note: A user can at one time claim the reward from one account id only.

You can send the reward gained under the RES to a beneficiary in India along with a money transfer. Your reward money will be sent into the same receivers account within 7-10 working days of completion of the original transfer.

Q. How do I renew my membership?

Your membership expires after you claim your reward. To renew your membership click on the engagement scheme link on the left hand side of the Account Summary page. Once open-click on the provided link to renew your membership. This membership shall now be valid for a period of 4 months.

Q. What is the RemitGuru 'Request Money' scheme?

The RemitGuru 'Request Money' is a unique program for family and relatives in India to request money from their loved ones settled or working abroad. Receivers in India now can directly ask, request and remind their loved one abroad to send money home.

Q. How does the RemitGuru 'Request Money' scheme work?

If you are in India, and want your family and relatives abroad to send you some money, you should use the 'Request Money' option. You have to fill up the 'Request Money' form by clicking on Request Money on the home page calculator with the following details:

1. Sender Details, i.e., the contact details of your relative abroad that you want to request money from

2. Your Personal Details, i.e., your personal contact details so that your relative that you request money from can verify your details before transferring you money

3. Your bank account details, i.e., the details of the account to which the money will be transferred by your relative you have requested

Once you have completed the form, RemitGuru will send an auto generated email to you as well as your relative you have requested money from. Your relative will get your updated bank account details with a link to fulfill or reject the request. After clicking the fulfill option, a fresh transaction will be booked on RemitGuru and your relative will simply authorize the payment through his internet banking account.

Q. Is there any additional fees?

No, there are no additional fees.

Q. Do I need to get registered with RemitGuru to request money?

No, you can request money in India from your relatives abroad without getting registered.

Q. Does your relative need to get registered with RemitGuru to 'Fulfill a Request'?

Your relative can receive a request without being registered, but to fulfill the request and to complete the online money transfer process, they will have to get registered.

Q. Is there any limit on the number of people I can ask or request money?

No, there is no limit to the number of people you ask or request money.

Q What is the RemitGuru 'Request Money via SMS' feature?

The RemitGuru 'Request Money via SMS' is a unique program for family and relatives in India to request money from their loved ones settled or working abroad by sending an SMS. Receivers in India now can directly ask, request and remind their loved one abroad to send money home by sending a simple SMS.

Q How does the RemitGuru 'Request Money via SMS' feature work?

It is very simple. You do not need to get register and do not require any internet connection. All you need to do is, send an SMS to '9289200028' in the below mentioned format.

SEND <CURRENCY CODE><AMOUNT>, <SENDER EMAIL ID>, <YOUR IFSC CODE>, <YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER>, <YOUR FULL NAME>

For eg. Send GBP 100, abc@gmail.com, KKBK0000638, 887622378, Amit Kumar

Currency Code - This is the ISO code for the currency in which the money will be sent. For eg., if your friend lives in UK, the currency code will be GBP. If your friend lives in Germany, the currency code will be EUR.

Sender's email id - Email id of the person residing abroad that you want to request money from.

Your IFSC Code - This is the IFSC code of the bank account where you want to receive money.

Your account number - Again, details of the account where you want to receive money.

Your personal details - Your full name.

NOTE:

A comma separates each of the details provided in the SMS. Do not enter any other special characters.

Once you send the SMS, you will immediately get a response confirming whether the details have been provided in the correct format. If it is incorrect, please try once again.

Commands are not case sensitive, you can text us in lowercase or capital letters.

Q Is there any additional fees on SMS?

No, it is absolutely FREE.

Q Does the receiver need to get registered with RemitGuru?

No, the receiver in India can request for money from the sender without getting registered.

Q Does the sender need to get registered with RemitGuru to 'Fulfill a Request'?

The sender can receive a request without being registered, but to fulfill the request and to complete the online money transfer process, the sender needs to get registered.

Q Is there any limit on the number of people I can ask or request money via SMS?

No, there is no limit to the number of people you ask or request money, unless he or she living abroad is related to the receiver.

Scheduled Transactions
Q. How do I schedule a money transfer?

You don't need to worry any longer about remembering to send money on time to your dear ones. RemitGuru offers scheduling options to meet your money transfer needs. You can schedule money transfers from your RemitGuru account for future dates or even set up a scheduled remittance to your beneficiaries. It's easy to use this scheduling functionality and there's no extra fee. Here's how it works:

Select the Schedule Reminder link from your my account page for an existing recipient or when you start your money transfer. Specify the frequency and date of your money transfer transactions.You will be sent a reminder on your registered e-mail id 3 days in advance.

Also you have the option of automating the entire remittance transaction at a scheduled date.Just click on the schedule a remittance link on the side of your my account page and set up a scheduled remittance.Review the schedule before you authorize the money transfer. Q. What is the 'Rate Alert' feature? How does it work?

'Rate Alert' feature is there for you to transfer money on your preferred exchange rate; all you need to do is login to your RemitGuru account and visit the 'Rate Alert' option and mention your preferred exchange rate. At any particular day if RemitGuru exchange rate is similar or more than your preferred exchange rate, RemitGuru will send you a reminder through email and you can transfer money then.

Track, Cancel Or Refund Of Transactions
Q. How do I track the status of my money transfer?

The status of your remittance transaction is displayed on the Status Tracker page on the RemitGuru website. Additionally, RemitGuru sends email notifications to keep you aware of important changes in the status of your transaction.

The transaction information on our website is available only to the sender of the remittance. The sender can view the status of the transaction either by signing in to his or her RemitGuru account and entering the RemitGuru Transaction Number (RGTN) in the Status Tracker search box, or by checking the Status Tracker.

Q. How many months of transaction history is available through the Web site?

We maintain entire history of transfers made that may can be referred to if the need arises.

The transaction information on the website is available only to the sender and the recipient of the money transfer.

The sender can see status by signing in to RemitGuru account and entering the RemitGuru Transaction Number (RGTN) in the Status Tracker Search Box, or by looking on the Status Tracker page of the site.

Q. How do I cancel a transaction funded with a bank account?

No cancellation is allowed once transaction is funded and the money comes to the RemitGuru account. However, if you have not yet paid then you can cancel the transaction and do a new one. To understand cancellation process contact Customer Support.

Change Transaction
Q. Can I make changes to my transaction?

You cannot make changes to a transaction once it has been booked, but you can cancel the transaction and do a new one.

Q. Can I cancel my transaction and get a refund?

In accordance with the refund policy of RemitGuru, any claim regarding refund will be settled by deducting an amount 20 (SGD, GBP or EUR respectively). Refund process would be completed by 15 to 20 business days.

Note: No refund is possible once the amount is converted to INR.

Q. How do I unlock my account?

Q. How do I add a receiver?

After logging into your RemitGuru account, click on the My Receivers tab on the left hand side of the page. Enter the required details of the new receiver here and save them.

Change or Forgot Password
Q. How do I change my RemitGuru password?

After logging into your RemitGuru account, click on the Change Password link in the My Profile section of the menu, on the left hand side of the page. Make the required changes and save it.

Q. What if I forget my Remitguru password?

You need to click on the forgot password link in the login box. Enter the requested details and you will receive an email with a new password. Use this password to log in again. When you access your account, change the password according to your preference.

Q. I want to block my account as I believe that my password has been leaked?

We advise you to frequently change your password and maintain total secrecy about your login details to prevent fraudulent misuse of your RemitGuru account. In case you need to block your account, just send us an email at "" from the email ID you had earlier registered with us.

Fees and Exchange Rate
Q. What is the exchange rate applied on my remittance?

The exchange rate applicable on your remittance is based on the existing rate for the day that your funds get converted to Indian Rupees. On the day that you book your remittance, the prevailing exchange rate for that particular day is shown to you on our online rate calculator only as an indication. So you will know the approximate amount your beneficiaries in India will receive in Indian rupees for the remittance that you will be sending to them in your local currency.
